Hands up if you’ve ever made a mistake...

You can’t see me, but both of my hands are in the air right now. Some mistakes I made a few times, just to ensure they really sunk in. In fact, I made so many, I got a book deal.

The ‘Bad’ Girl’s Guide to Better is my tongue-in-cheek ‘stealth help’ book - offering a hilarious and poignant take on growing through some of our worst behaviour to step into a better, brighter future. From upgrading our emotional intelligence to fixing our relationship with money, navigating friendships, forgiving our parents and finding the one(s), it’s a bestie in a book, soothing your soul, making you giggle and upgrading your perspective on the most important relationship in life: the one with yourself.

Got questions? Hit me!

I’m not bad, and I’m also not a girl… skip?

No way! I get messages from men all the time telling me what this book has done for them, whether they picked up their sister/gf/daughter’s copy or grabbed it off the bookstore shelf themselves. If I could title this book again, it’d be BETTER: A stealth help guide to making peace with your past and (best) friends with your future. And we could all do with some of that.

Is BAD GIRLS a good gift?

Heck yes. Gifting someone a bestie in a book? That doesn’t just make you a good buddy, it makes you a hero (*googles ‘how to nominate someone for an Order of Australia medal’). You can order them a hard copy from Booktopia for delivery here or direct from me (personalised if you like!) right here. If you’d prefer the audiobook - check out the below!

Is it a bird? A plane? Memoir or self-help?

The official genre is ‘stealth help’, which I translate to: self help with personality. You’ll laugh AND learn, kinda like late lunch with your besties crossed with a therapy session. You’ll hear stories from me and others that will make you snort-laugh and maybe cry, interwoven with evidence, expert opinion and all the research from my 15+ year health journalism career.

What’s it like that I may have read/watched?

My favourite comparison thus far has got to be Untamed by GOAT Glennon Doyle. But if you love things like Sex And The City, Fleabag and Bridget Jones - you’ll love this. It’s framed around 16 life lessons I wish I’d learned sooner - it’s my love letter to my younger, current and future self, and also to all of you.

What will I learn?

Most importantly? How to forgive yourself, have your own back and become your own biggest cheerleader. We’ll upgrade your emotional intelligence, assess your relationships with the people you have (and the people you want) and work out why you’re here. We’ll also look at some of your most important life skills - money, conflict, sex, grief. It’s like pick n mix, but healthier.

Any trigger warnings?

Yep, a few. I always give you a heads up at the beginning of those chapters, but in some chapters I discuss mental illness, substance abuse, disordered eating and sexual abuse. At the back, I include a bunch of resources and support services should you need them, and you can always reach out to me @caseyberos for a chat.
